Official visit of Consul General to Zhenjiang (Jiangsu) (April 5-6, 2016)

Consul General paid an official visit to Zhenjiang (Jiangsu) from 5th to 6th April and called on Mayor of Zhenjiang city Madam Zhu Xiaoming in the evening of 5th April. During the interaction, Consul General requested Zhenjiang leadership to encourage Chinese companies to participate in the ongoing `Make in India’ initiative by setting up manufacturing units in India. Consul General also proposed organization of a business seminar as well as holding of India Culture Week in Zhenjiang towards end of October 2016. Mayor Zhu Xiaoming welcomed both the proposals and assured full support of Zhenjaing city leadership in their implementation.

On April 6, Consul General visited Jiangsu University and called on President Ming of Jiangsu University. Consul General also interacted with Indian students studying at Jiangsu University and listened to their concerns. It may be noted that the Indian student community is the largest foreign student community at Jiangsu University with nearly 119 students pursuing medicine in Jiangsu University.

Separately, Consul General also paid visit to SOPO Chemical Group, which is expected to commence their operations in India very soon. Consul General also visited Tian Gong Tool Company in Danyang, which is already selling its machine tools and products into the Indian market.

During the site visits to these companies, Consul General apprised them of the improved investment climate in India and encouraged them to scale up their operations in India.
