Indian Yoga Festival

Consulate General of India in Shanghai presents 'Indian Yoga Festival' from July 15-18, 2014. The yoga festival is being brought to Shanghai under “Glimpses of India Festival” as a part of 2014 being celebrated as “India-China: Year of Friendly Exchanges”. We bring to Shanghai 3 experts of Yoga from Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) for the festival. MDNIY (http://yogamdniy.nic.in/) is an autonomous Institution funded by Govt. of India and is a focal Institute for Planning, Training, Promotion and Coordination of Yoga Education, Training, Therapy and Research in all its aspects. The bio-profiles of the experts may be seen here, here and here

Yoga asanas (postures) have originated from the oldest religious texts, the Vedas, and the practice has been handed down over thousands of years. The classical techniques of Yoga which date back to more than 5,000 years, evolved from a desire for better health and long life and heightened self-understanding and have since spread throughout the world.

We have partnered with a premier yoga studio, Y Plus Yoga Center, to bring this festival to Shanghai. The yoga festival sessions at different branches of Y Plus Center are free and open to all. The complete schedule may be seen here. Due to limitations of space, reservations need to be done via phone 021-63336363, two days in advance.
