73 Indian textile companies participate at Yarn Expo & InterTextile 2017 in Shanghai

A delegation of 73 Yarn and Textile companies from India participated at the Yarn Expo and InterTextiles Shanghai 2017 (Autumn Edition)  being held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, China from 11 to 13 October 2017 in Shanghai under the umbrella of the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL).  

2. The ‘India Pavilion’ was visited by a large number of visitors on the first two days and the buzz had continued on the third day. The pavilion was also visited by Mr. Ujwal Lahoti, Chairman, TEXPROCIL, Mr. Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director, TEXPROCIL and officials from the Consulate General of India in Shanghai.  Mr. Ujwal Lahoti informed about greater buzz for the Indian cotton and yarn at the Expo this year and elaborated upon the increasing export potential of yarn from India to China, while underscoring the need to address the tariff related constraints faced by Indian cotton yarn exporters. 

3. Given that Yarn Expo and InterTextiles 2017 is the largest exhibition focused on textiles Industry in China and that entire supply chain of textile Industry is present at this event, it provides the participants’ a comprehensive platform to showcase supreme apparel fabrics and accessories and a good medium for Indian exhibitors to explore new market opportunities,  learn about next season’s trends, and add value to business. It is held biannually in March (Spring Edition) and October (Autumn Edition). 

4. The participation of Indian companies was spread over yarn and fabric sectors.  The presentation of the India Pavilion – with themes of Incredible India and Make in India – were distinctly unique and received positive appreciation from the participants and visitors.
