Visit of 100-member youth delegation – Shanghai Leg (13 – 16 June)

    At the invitation of the All China Youth Federation, a 100-member delegation led by Dr. A.K. Dubey, Secretary (Youth Affairs), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports visited Shanghai from 13-16 June 2017 under the India-China Youth Exchange Program (YEP). The exchange program involved interaction with local Shanghai youth, visits to tourist and cultural sites, introduction to economic and social activities.

A well-organized series of events was arranged which included visits to local communities in Wuliqiao, Kangjian, Jingan Temple, industrial establishments at Jiading Industrial Park (Volvo Automobile R&D Center, TES and CHIC Group), Tongji University, Deep-Sea Exploration Museum, Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai City History Development Museum, Yuyuan Garden, Youth Activity and Art Centers, Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Traditional Chinese Medicine University. At the Banquet Dinner hosted by Shanghai Youth Federation on 14th June evening, members of youth delegation performed Indian dances and sang three Chinese popular songs which was deeply appreciated by Mr. Wang Yu, Head of Shanghai Youth Federation. 

3.  It may be noted that in total a delegation of 200 youth had visited China at the invitation of the All China Youth Federation from 9 – 16 June. It was one of the subgroups that visited Shanghai. Earlier Shri Vijay Goel, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) Youth Affairs and Sports also paid an official visit for the Shanghai leg from 11-13 June, when H.E. Mr. Shi Guanghui, Vice Mayor of Shanghai (incharge of youth affairs) received the visiting Indian Minister in the afternoon of 12 June at the premises of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. The Youth Exchange programme has been in place since early 2007.
