The 'Visit India Year 2015' campaign launched

 

The 'Visit India Year 2015' campaign was officially launched in Beijing on 2nd February, 2015 by External Affairs Minister of India H.E. Mrs. Sushma Swaraj and Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang. The decision to celebrate 2015 as Visit India Year and 2016 as Visit China Year was taken by Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to India in September 2014. At the launch ceremony, Hon'ble External Affairs Minister and Chinese Vice Premier delivered key note speeches. External Affairs Minister highlighted the catalytic role that tourism can play in expanding people-to-people linkages and mutual understanding; she also spoke about the diverse attractions India provided for the Chinese tourist. Prime Minister Modi in his message welcomed Chinese travellers to explore Buddhist Monk Xuan Zang's footsteps to travel to India this year. PM's speech may be seen here.
