Leading Artists from Eastern China Region visit India at ICCR Invitation (5 - 11 March 2017)

 

A ten member senior painters/artists delegation led by Mr. Wu Shan Ming, Member of China Academy of Arts visited India from 5 - 11 March at the invitation of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

2.The delegation members included senior artists from the Zhejiang Kaiming Art Gallery including eminent Painter Mr. Shen Shu, who had earlier presented a portrait to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during his visit to Hangzhou for attending the G20 Summit in September 2016.  

3.The delegation also included eminent painters from Shanghai led by Mr. Luo Wei Min and Mr. Zhang Yi Ren. Mr. Luo Wei Min, who is a student of eminent painter Late Mr. Wang Zhijie, who had contributed a set of paintings under the  title of "India through Chinese Eyes" - which have been earlier put on display in Eastern China at exhibitions in Wuxi, Wenzhou, Yangzhou and Huzhou during 2016.

4.During the India visit, the delegation visited New Delhi, Rajasthan and Varanasi and interacted with Ambassador Amarendra Khatua, Director General of ICCR and several other leading artists from India.  Workshops with Indian artists/counterpart were also organized in Varanasi, as well as Jaipur. 

5.It is expected that the artists delegation would attempt (upon their return) another set of impressions of their visit to India through a series of paintings, which would be put on display at the India Culture Week, which is likely to be hosted in Hangzhou in mid June 2017.
