Consul General Prakash Gupta paid an official visit to Jinhua (Zhejiang Province) from March 6-7, 2017 and interacted with Mr. Ji Junmin, Mayor of Jinhua Municipal People’s Government to discuss ways and means to further deepen economic and cultural cooperation between India and Jinhua.

2.During the meeting with Mayor Ji, Consul General shared details of investment opportunities available to Jinhua companies in India, as part of the Make in India initiative, and requested Jinhua city leadership to lead an investors’ delegation to visit India in the second half of 2017. A proposal to organize an India Culture Week and 3^rd International Day of Yoga celebration was also submitted to Jinhua city leadership for their consideration.

3.Consul General also visited the JINFEI Group in Jinhua, which is one of China’s leading manufacturers for wheels for automobiles, e-bikes and the luxury car segment. The JINFEI Group has been supplying wheels to leading car manufactures in India and is now actively considering setting up a manufacturing unit at an appropriate location in India to cater to the growing Indian market demand.

4.Consul General also visited leading companies in the Dongyang County of Jinhua city on 7^th March to discuss their investment plans for India. The DMEGC Group explained its project proposals for investment in India into the solar sector, batteries (for automobiles), vibrating motors (for mobile phones) and energy efficient technologies for transformers. It is expected that DMEGC leadership will visit India next month to seek investment opportunities in each of these above four sectors.

5.Separately, CG also paid a visit to the LINIX Group which manufactures smart technology solutions for Hi-tech industries. The LINIX Group already has leading buyers in India and also plans to scale up its penetration in the Indian market in the coming years. During the visit to LINIX Group Consul General also interacted with Vice Mayor Wang Tinren of Dong Yang, who discussed plans of Jinhua companies to participate in infrastructure projects in India.

6.Consul General also visited the Hang Dian film city in Jinhua to explore possibility of collaboration between the Indian Bollywood and Hang Dian film industry. It may be noted that Jinhua is one of the Eastern China’s leading industrial hubs with major county level cities like Yiwu (2000 plus Indian population), Dongyang (construction and wood manufacturing hub) and Yongkang (leading metal industry hub), which are all part of Jinhua’s jurisdiction.
