First Consular Camp in Eastern China held in Yiwu (Zhejiang) on 16th December

Consulate General of India in Shanghai organized the first consular camp in Yiwu on 16th December 2016. The nearly day long consular facilitation camp was held from 11am to 4 pm to provide consular services to long term Indian nationals resident in Yiwu.

During the Consular Camp, more than 150 applications for passport renewal, OCI cards, NRI certificates and attestation of documents were received by Consulate officials. While routine services like stamping, attestation etc. were offered at venue itself, other services for passport renewal were accepted for processing as per stipulated timelines. A large number of consular queries with regards to OCI applications and changes in passports were also clarified at the venue itself.

It may be noted that Yiwu (prefecture level city in Jinhua in Zhejiang Province), which is also one of China’s largest small trading goods hub, is host to one of the largest concentration of Indian traders in Eastern China, with more than 2000 Indian nationals resident, making the Indian community the largest amongst the foreign communities present in Yiwu.

The Consular Camp held in Yiwu, was organized by the Consulate in partnership with the Indian Representative Associations based out of Yiwu, namely the Indian Family-Yiwu and Indian Community Forum- Yiwu.
