Momentum Jharkhand - Business Seminar held in Shanghai today – investors from Eastern China to visit Jharkhand in February 2017

Consulate General of India, Shanghai along with Government of Jharkhand jointly organized a large scale business event to promote the upcoming “Momentum Jharkhand Investors Summit” in Shanghai earlier today. The business event was attended by nearly 80 leading Chinese companies from the Eastern China region, who had expressed strong interest in investing in India.

2 Mr. R K Shrivastava, Additional Chief Secretary, Jharkhand Government delivered the opening address and highlighted the investment opportunities available to Chinese companies in Jharkhand, in particular in sectors infrastructure, power sector and smart city projects. He invited Chinese participants to attend the upcoming Momentum Jharkhand Investors Summit (to be held in Ranchi from 16 – 17 February 2017).

3. Chairman of Shanghai – China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Mr. Yang Jianrong, who was the Guest of Honour at the Business Event, delivered the key note address and highlighting the growing convergence of business interests between Indian and Chinese companies and the increased frequency of high level exchanges between India and China.

4. Consul General Prakash Gupta gave an overall perspective of the investment climate in India and encouraged Chinese companies to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Make in India initiative. He assured all Chinese companies that Consulate would be willing to facilitate their investment plans for India in full earnest.

5. A detailed sector specific presentation on the tangible investment opportunities available in Jharkhand was made by Mr. Sunil Barnwal, Secretary (Industries), Jharkhand Government.  Upon the conclusion of the interactive Q&A Session, B2B meetings were also held between members of the business delegation from Jharkhand and counterpart Chinese companies. CEO’s of China Coal, Free Tech Road Construction Company, Shanghai Urban Construction Group and Yinhe Group also held one on one discussion with representatives of Jharkhand Government.  As such, significant business leads came through the Business Seminar that was held in Shanghai at the Renaissance Yangtze Hotel earlier today.

6. It is expected that as follow up to today’s event to promote the Momentum Jharkhand Investors Summit, several delegations including from CCPIT Shanghai would be visiting India in February to attend the same.
