Why India Business Seminar held in Nanjing on (Oct 16, 2010)

 

“Why India” Business Seminar was organized by the Consulate General of India (CGI) & Jiangsu Sub-Council of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in Nanjing  on 16th October 09 at the Mandarin Garden Hotel. The Seminar was aimed at introducing the successful business experiences of leading Chinese companies in India for potential Chinese investors looking at investing in India.

Vice Chairperson of Jiangsu Sub-council of CCPIT Ms. Qiu Xiao Ping called on business leaders from China to take advantage of the excellent investment climate in India. She emphasized that there were mutually beneficial complementarities between the industries of India and China.

Consul General Riva Ganguly Das in her remarks highlighted that India-China trade and commercial ties had grown significantly in the last few years with China emerging as India's largest trading partner in 2008.  She highlighted some of the investment opportunities available in India and invited the Chinese companies present to explore these opportunities.

The Seminar was also addressed by CEO’s of leading Chinese companies with success stories in India. Mr. Huang Hongliang, President of the Jiangsu Overseas Corporation (JOC), talked about creating win-win situation with customers and Chinese companies as partner in India’s infrastructure development. Jiangsu Overseas Corporation is engaged in various infrastructure projects in India.Mr. Fu Guixing, Vice President of Jiangsu Yueda Group shared the experience of a successful Joint Venture with an Indian partner. Jiangsu Yueda Group has established a joint venture tractor manufacturing facility with Mahindra & Mahindra in Yancheng.  Mr. Zhu Denian, Vice President of Shanghai Electric highlighted the role played by Chinese companies in India’s power sector. They are working with reputed Indian companies to establish power plants of different capacities all over India.

India’s national carrier, AIR INDIA contributed with a complementary return ticket for a Chinese guest through a lucky draw.The Seminar was attended by representatives of more than 70 Chinese companies from the Eastern China regions, who are interested at investing in India either through setting up representative offices or as JV agreements. Senior officials of regional CCPIT’s, Foreign Trade Bureau’s and members of regional trading associations also attended the event. A 15 member strong Indian delegation comprising of prominent Indian companies & banks was present for the event.
