Shahnaz Husain, one of India’s leading woman entrepreneurs who has popularized Ayurvedic beauty care and cures worldwide, visited Shanghai at the invitation of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines & Health Products (CCCMHPIE). She took part in the HealthPlex Expo where she was also awarded with the Ayurvedic Innovation Award. She later held a press conference at the Consulate General of India, Shanghai which was attended by representatives of leading print media & agencies. During the press conference, she expounded on the rich heritage of India in the field of herbal cosmetics. Replying to the queries of journalists, she explained how damages caused by chemical ingredients in cosmetics motivated her to study the ancient texts which are more than 5000 years old and develop products containing plant ingredients and other natural substances to provide beauty care, general care as well as treatment for specific skin and hair problems.  

Shahnaz has received several national and international awards. The Government of India awarded Ms. Husain the Padma Shri – 4th highest civilian award of the Republic of India in 2006, and the Success Magazine of USA named her the "World's Greatest Woman Entrepreneur" in 1996.  In 2009, she won the Jewel Award for the most outstanding woman entrepreneur and the Woman Power 100 Award (recognizing 100 powerful women).  In 2010, Ms. Husain won the India Chamber of Commerce and Industry‘s ― “Woman of Substance” award. She was invited by the US President Barack Obama to attend the Summit on Outstanding Entrepreneurs in Washington DC in 2010. With promotion of Ayurveda as her mission, she firmly believes that the Ayurveda will be in the forefront in the Cosmetic World in future.
