India - China Financial Sector Dialogue organized in the Consulate

 

  On 18 May, Consulate and Shanghai Municipal Government Financial Services Office (SMOFS) jointly organized an India - China Financial sector Dialogue at Consulate premises. Mr. Fan Yonggjin, Deputy Director General of SMOFS led Chinese side comprising of Mr. Ma Lixin, Deputy Director General of China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC), Shanghai Branch, and representatives of local shanghai based financial institutions including China Development Bank, Shanghai Branch. Then Indian side led by Consul general had Chief representative of all the 6 Indian banks in Shanghai, CII and Mrs. Sumita Dawra, Counsellor (Economic)of EoI, Beijing. Mr. Fan gave debriefing on his recently concluded visit to India, in which he met top officials of an Indian bank in Mumbai and discussed about operations of small scale & rural banks in India. Mr. Ma in his speech spoke about the upcoming reforms in finance sector in China and the opportunities that it presents to the Indian banks. The representatives of Indian banks spoke about the current status of the operations and the challenges that they face in further expanding their business in China. The Dialogue ended with a Q & A session.
