Seminar on Investment Opportunities in India in Infrastructure sector

 

Consulate General of India organized a seminar on 17th January 2013 on Investment opportunities in India in Infrastructure Sector in collaboration with the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce (SCOFCOM) and CII, Shanghai. Mr. Wang Xin Ping, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce was the Chief Guest and delivered a special address. About 70 representatives from more than 30 Chinese companies participated in the seminar. Members of Indian industry based in East China Region also attended the seminar.

Presentations were made on Investment Opportunities in infrastructure sector, financing options for foreign companies and taxation system in India. In addition, two big Chinese companies Shanghai Urban Construction Group (SUCG) and Shanghai Electric Group (SEC), who have done projects in India in the field of infrastructure, also gave presentations about their experience. SUCG has partnered with L & T and done several projects for Delhi Metro in the past and is currently engaged in metro related work in several Indian cities. SEC has been supplying power generating equipment to several Indian private companies. The two companies highlighted the immense opportunities that exist in the infrastructure sector. The presentations were followed by a lively Q & A session.
